Maud Williamson State Recreation Site is a 24-acre Oregon day-use park near Wheatland at the junction of Oregon Route 221 and Oregon Route 153, across from the approach to the Wheatland Ferry. Known for second-growth Douglas-fir, abundant spring trilliums, and a historic farmhouse, it also offers picnic and recreation facilities. The park originated from land owned by Maud Williamson, a longtime Wheatland schoolteacher, who left her timberland and house to the State of Oregon after her death in about 1933 in memory of her mother, Ruby T. Williamson. Part of the site lies on Adam Matheny’s original Donation Land Claim, and the neighboring Charles S. Williamson House was built in 1890 by Maud’s father.
