Born in Warsaw, Indiana on January 24, 1961, Tony Elliott became an Indiana short track icon by following his father into sprint car racing and competing on local tracks in Warsaw, Gas City, and Kokomo, where he won multiple track championships at each. His natural talent, hard work, and dedication carried him into USAC sprint car competition, where he won his first race in 1987 and went on to capture 28 national features and two National Championships, in 1989 and 2000. He also won in USAC Midgets and Silver Crown Cars, and reached international success by winning the Australian midget title in 2004. After his death on October 2, 2015, Tony Stewart remembered him as a fierce competitor and also a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, and friend.
