DeWitt Williams Bridge was named in honor of DeWitt Williams, a Saint Stephen native who served as a teacher and principal for over 30 years, was a member of the Saint Stephen Town Council from 1970 to 1979, Mayor Pro Tem from 1974 to 1979, a 9th District member of the S.C. Highway Commission from 1972 to 1982, and a member of the House of Representatives beginning in 1983; it was dedicated in 1983.
