The Moravians
Faith
In 1741, the Moravians, or the Unitas Fratrum, settled in Bethlehem, Pa. Other settlements were founded in Lehigh, Northampton, and Lancaster Counties. Although their manner of dress and way of life would have fit into the Plain World, their joyous religious celebrations, especially at Christmas, set them apart. They combined aspects of both Plain and Gay Dutch.
