The U.S. Naval Armed Guard of World War II came into existence on 9/15/41 with 144,970 personnel serving on 5,236 different ships, of which 710 were sunk by the enemy. They served on American Merchant and Army vessels. There were 1,810 killed in action, injuries in an unknown number, and 27 prisoners of war. Their motto was, "We aim to deliver and we did!"
