Lamarque Landing is a conical mound 6½ feet tall and 115 feet in diameter. Indians built the mound about AD 1000, and excavations at the site revealed that it was built in 3 separate episodes. This archaeological site is on private property, and it should be viewed from the highway right-of-way.
