The Arkansas Arboretum is a seventy-one-acre botanical garden within Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Little Rock, set below Pinnacle Mountain along the Little Maumelle River. Its plantings are organized to represent Arkansas’s six geographical regions, using native flora and trees to evoke landscapes from the Ozark Plateau’s hills and valleys to the Mississippi alluvial plain’s bottomland and tallgrass prairies. By gathering these environments in one place, it offers a compact introduction to the state’s natural diversity. A zero point six-mile paved interpretive trail allows visitors to walk through the regional plantings within the larger mountain-and-river setting.
