Gowker on Feb 21, 1944, and SGT Richard L. Dickonson on Sep 28, 1944, in World War II; SP4 Kenneth D. Bennett in Vietnam on May 12, 1970; and 1LT Jonathan W. Edds in Iraq on Aug 17, 2007. The inscription closes with the words, “When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow, we gave our today,” attributed to John Maxwell Edmonds.
