The site was originally Middle Ebenezer Memorial Church, built of handmade bricks. Christian Metz held the first church service here in March 1846. When the Ebenezer Society moved to Iowa in 1864, the property was bought by the Fourteen Holy Helpers Church congregation and altered to meet their requirements. The walls of the apse of the present church are the original Ebenezer Church walls.
