These bells are part of a carillon cast especially for Biola in 1914. For nearly half a century they rang over downtown Los Angeles from high above Biola’s campus at 6th and Hope Streets. They were the musical partner to the landmark “Jesus Saves” signs that shared the same roof. Major funding for their preservation was given by Irene Li in memory of her husband, Fook Kong Li, and John and Irene Batchelor were recognized for preserving the bells. Through substantial gifts from many other donors, these historic symbols of God’s faithfulness again became part of Biola. They were dedicated on September 9, 1987.
