Built in 1814 by early Waterville settler Asa Redington for his son William, the Redington Museum is one of the city’s best-preserved early 19th-century houses. Asa Redington was a Revolutionary War veteran and George Washington’s Honor Guard member who later helped develop water rights at Ticonic Falls and establish a flour mill on the Kennebec River with his sons. Owned by the family for more than a century, the Federal-style house became the headquarters of the Waterville Historical Society in 1924 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Its well-preserved interior and collections illuminate domestic life and local history in Waterville and New England.
