Redfish Pass is a strait on Florida’s Gulf Coast connecting Pine Island Sound to the Gulf of Mexico between North Captiva Island and Captiva Island. It forms the break separating the two islands after the hurricane of 1921 split what had been a larger Captiva Island. The pass took its name from the many redfish caught there soon after it formed. In Southwest Florida, it has remained well known as a popular destination for sports fishing.
