Two Successful Raids
Military
2
On March 25, 1864, CSA Gen. N. B. Forrest and the main body of his cavalry passed this way before and after a destructive raid on Paducah. On the return, Kentucky regiments camped near here were given leave to seek food, horses, recruits, and visit their families, and not one deserted. A news item then led Forrest to send men back through here again on April 14 to capture horses missed before.
