Jamestown United Methodist Church was built and paid for in 1852 partly by gamblers and partly by the people of Jamestown for the use of all sects on Sundays and for educational purposes on weekdays. It was deeded to the Methodist Episcopal Church on June 6, 1853, by James L. Stuart for 25 dollars.
