The Hand House is a two-story brick I-house built in the late 1820s and is one of the oldest buildings in Cumberland Furnace. Its three-brick-thick walls are made of handmade bricks. It served as both a residence and a tavern and is a good example of early brick construction on the Western Highland Rim.
