Elias Comstock, the first pioneer to erect a permanent residence in Owosso, moved there in 1836 and served as a merchant, school teacher, justice of the peace, township supervisor, judge, and county clerk. This one-room cabin was built for him in the mid-1830s. Although it has been moved three times, most recently in 1969, its original logs remain intact. It now stands just north of the Comstock homesite, and funds raised by the Owosso Bicentennial Committee help maintain the cabin and surrounding grounds.
