On the eastern side of Montrose, Colorado, this history museum preserves a collection of historic buildings brought together on one site to recreate the look and feel of everyday life in the Mountain West. Its assembled streetscape includes log cabins, Western town stores, and other vernacular structures, giving the place the character of a small historic settlement rather than a single landmark. Recognized on the Colorado state register of historic properties in 2018, it stands out as a preservation project. The museum also owns a separate historic carriage shop where future boxing champion Jack Dempsey trained, linking local history to a broader Western story.
