Perry County's Congressional Medal of Honor recipients included Civil War Corporal Isaac Harrison Carmin, whose place of action was Mississippi in 1863; First Sergeant Alfred Ransbottom, whose place of action was Tennessee in 1864; and Private James K. Sturgeon, whose place of action was Georgia in 1864. During the Indian Campaigns, Sergeant Nicholas Meaher received the honor for action in Arizona Territory in 1869. During the Philippine Insurrection, Brigadier General USA Ret. William Edward Birkhimer received it for action on Luzon, Philippine Islands, in 1899. During the Korean War, Sergeant First Class Ret. Ronald Eugene Rosser received it for action in Korea in 1952.
