Fred Wygal Elementary School served Afro-American students from 1943 to 1966. Its faculty included John E. Casey from 1943 to 1962, Leora K. Flanagan from 1943 to 1965, Ouida T. Haley from 1943 to 1965, S. Elizabeth Lewis from 1943 to 1966, William J. Manning from 1963 to 1965, Mary F. Montgomery from 1964 to 1966, Sadie S. Wymns from 1949 to 1963, George B. Mills from 1961 to 1966, and Emma S. Alexander from 1948 to 1949. Fred Wygal served as Superintendent of Schools from 1939 to 1942.
