The Confederate Veterans Memorial of Mills County honors Jeff Davis Camp No. 117 of the United Confederate Veterans, organized in 1887, and preserves the names of many Confederate veterans associated with the camp, identifying them with their military units from states including Texas, Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and West Virginia, as well as service in cavalry, infantry, artillery, battalions, legions, rangers, regiments, and postal service during the Confederate States of America from 1861 to 1865. A nearby monument also preserves the names of additional Confederate veterans and their units, including men connected with Texas cavalry and infantry, Arkansas infantry, frontier protection, and brigade service.
