Wool Bag Stand
Industry
Around 1900 at the Trosper Ranch near Antone, Oregon, spring shearing brought the use of a wool bag stand and bag to pack freshly sheared wool into burlap bags for shipment. The cut wool was tossed into the bag while a person, usually a youth, stood inside stomping it down tightly into place. A large full bag could weigh 500 pounds.
