Indiana Railway Museum in French Lick, Indiana, began in 1961 in Westport with a single locomotive and three passenger cars, later moved to Greensburg, and settled in French Lick in 1978 after Southern Railway deeded it 16 miles of right of way. Best known through the French Lick Scenic Railway, it no longer functions primarily as a traditional museum but remains active through excursion service, a gift shop, and ticket area. Its preservation work has included a large collection of locomotives and rolling stock, while the operating heritage line carries passengers on a 20-mile round trip through Hoosier National Forest, including the Burton Tunnel.
