Charlie "C.P." Currier, born August 10, 1911, and died March 21, 1983, served as an Amite City fireman for 58 years. An electrician and plumber by trade, he was known as a fireman at heart and as a "Jack" of all trades to the people of Amite, who would say, "Just call C.P." He was a charter member of the Amite Kiwanis Club and was Amite Oyster Festival King I in 1979.
