Coburn Hill, about 4.2 miles southeast of Billings, Montana, is part of the Rimrocks and includes the prominent Sacrifice Cliffs sandstone bluffs. Beyond its striking landscape, it serves as a major broadcast hub for Billings, with nearly all of the city’s FM radio stations and many local television stations transmitting from towers there, and it also hosts a sulfur dioxide monitoring station. Its southern portion contains the 765-acre Four Dances Natural Area, acquired by the Bureau of Land Management in 1999. Named for Crow leader Chief Four Dances, who reportedly used the area in the 1830s for vision quests, it also provides a broad overlook and important nesting habitat for birds of prey.
