Before the coming of the automobile, horseback and wagons were used to transport people and goods. A wagon maker, like Rudolf Oldiges, made all the parts by hand and was a vital part of the community. Horse-drawn wagons were still in use on farms in the 1940's. This wagon wheel did important work for a farmer east of town.
