Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a 66-acre public garden on White Rock Lake that grew from historic estate grounds into one of Dallas’s best-known cultural landscapes. Opened in 1984 as a nonprofit focused on nature, learning, and community, it incorporates the former DeGolyer Estate and the neighboring Alex Camp House, both notable historic residences. Its formal gardens, including the Margaret Elisabeth Jonsson Color Garden, A Woman’s Garden, and the Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill, are paired with educational spaces such as the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden and plant trial gardens that test thousands of plants in North Central Texas conditions.
