Middle Palisade Glacier consists of two small alpine glaciers in California’s Sierra Nevada, within the John Muir Wilderness of Inyo National Forest. At about 12,700 feet in the rugged Palisades region, they lie just southeast of Norman Clyde Glacier. The ice rests immediately east of Middle Palisade, a 14,012-foot peak, and near Disappointment Peak. Their high-elevation setting among steep granite summits helps sustain these glaciers, making them part of one of the Sierra Nevada’s notable glaciated mountain landscapes.
