Norman Clyde Glacier
Nature
Norman Clyde Glacier is a small glacier high on the crest of the Sierra Nevada in eastern California, within the John Muir Wilderness of Inyo National Forest. It lies northwest of Norman Clyde Peak, which rises to 13,861 feet, and is separated by a small ridge from the larger Middle Palisade Glacier less than a quarter mile to the southeast. Both the glacier and nearby peak honor Norman Clyde, a California mountaineer closely associated with the high Sierra. Set in a stark alpine landscape of rock, ice, and steep elevation, it is one of the small surviving ice bodies in this part of the range.
