Built in 1875 in Fairfield County on Clear Creek south of Amanda, the Shaeffer Campbell Covered Bridge is a multiple kingpost truss bridge credited to covered-bridge builder James W. Buchanan. After a farm tractor damaged it in 1973, the bridge was donated to Belmont County in 1975, when the county had no covered bridges remaining. It was dismantled, moved to Lloydsville, restored, and reassembled over College Pond on the campus of Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville. Now painted red and closed to automobiles because its floor was designed for wagons and horses, it remains open to pedestrians and stands as a notable historic bridge landmark.
