Bogachiel Peak is a 5,478-foot mountain in Washington’s Olympic Mountains within Olympic National Park. Standing on the High Divide, it helps separate the Hoh and Sol Duc River valleys, forms part of the southern rim of Seven Lakes Basin, and rises near the headwaters of the Bogachiel River. Its name derives from the Quileute language in altered form, usually understood to mean “muddy waters” or “gets turbid after a rain,” with “big river” considered less likely. Shaped by the region’s marine west coast climate, the mountain receives heavy winter rain and snow from Pacific weather systems, while its runoff drains toward the Bogachiel, Sol Duc, and Hoh rivers.
