Dillon Falls is a hazardous stretch of rapids on the Deschutes River near Bend in Oregon’s Deschutes National Forest, better understood as a short, powerful sequence than a true waterfall. The river makes a dramatic 15-foot drop, rushes through a steep Class 5 rapid complicated by a tree in midstream, and then eases into Class 2 and 3 water downstream. Less visible and less documented than nearby Benham Falls, it can still be viewed from trails and is known to experienced rafters, some of whom continue to Lava Island Falls. Named for homesteader Leander Dillon, who died in 1907, the site has also seen fatal accidents, including a deadly incident in July 2025.
