Skyscraper Mountain
Nature
Skyscraper Mountain is a 7,078-foot summit in Mount Rainier National Park’s Cascade high country, northwest of Sunrise above the White River. It is notable for rising 3,040 feet above the river in just one mile, giving it striking local relief. Although its name suggests a sheer climb, it is approached mainly as a hike from the Sunrise area, with the final stretch reached on foot from Skyscraper Pass. The summit offers broad views of nearby mountains and Mount Rainier. Named for its resemblance to modern architecture, it was officially adopted in 1932, and its runoff flows into tributaries of the White River.
