Mount Fremont Fire Lookout stands in northern Mount Rainier National Park at more than 7,000 feet, the highest fire lookout in the park and one of only four that remain. Built in 1933 from a National Park Service design prepared under Acting Chief Architect Edwin A. Nickel, it reflects park building programs of that era, with assistance from the Emergency Conservation Works Association. The small two-story structure has storage below and a balconied observation room above, anchored by cables against the exposed mountaintop winds. Once used for fire detection, it now serves summer weekend visitors and remains recognized for its historic and architectural significance.
