Staats Mill Covered Bridge was built in 1887 over the Tug Fork of Mill Creek and was named for Enoch Statts' mill. The Jackson Co. Court paid local builder H.T. Hartley $904 to erect a "Long" truss wooden superstructure. The total cost of the original 97 ft. bridge, with stone abutments and approaches, was $1724. In 1983, the bridge was removed from Staats Mill and restored to its original specifications on a new abutment at this site at a cost in excess of $104,000.
