Fall Creek Falls State Park spans more than 30,638 acres on the upper Cane Creek Gorge in Middle Tennessee, where streams have carved cliffs, caves, overlooks, and an exceptional cluster of waterfalls. Its best-known feature is the 256-foot Fall Creek Falls, joined by Cane Creek Falls, Cane Creek Cascades, Rockhouse Falls, Piney Creek Falls, Coon Creek Falls, and Lost Creek Falls. Long isolated and sparsely settled, the area suffered destructive flooding, especially in 1929, before federal land purchases and New Deal reforestation and construction transformed it into a state park. Expanded and modernized over time, it remains both a scenic preserve and a major outdoor destination.
