Fort Concho was a federal fort in the Department of Texas from 1866 to 1890. Colonels Ranald S. MacKenzie and Benjamin Grierson were associated with it, with Grierson serving from 1875 to 1882, and the 10th U.S. Cavalry was stationed there. The fort was linked to Lone Wolf, Victorio, and Quanah Parker, and cavalry regiments 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10 and infantry regiments 10, 11, 16, 17, 19, 24, 25, 35, 38, and 41 served there. Its enlisted ranks and specialties included sergeant major, ordnance sergeant, saddler sergeant, trumpeter, principal musician, first sergeant, color sergeant, and quartermaster sergeant.
