Uhlerstown Covered Bridge, built in 1856 by Mahlon C. Lear, carries Uhlerstown Hill Road across the Delaware Canal beside Lock 18 in Uhlerstown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Its unusual importance lies in being the only covered bridge that crosses the Delaware Canal, linking it directly to the canal landscape and the village’s historic character. After more than a century of service, it was reconstructed in 1985 using original materials. As part of both the Delaware Canal and the Uhlerstown Historic District, it has also received formal recognition through the National Register of Historic Places and documentation by the Historic American Engineering Record in 2002.
