Nature
Pickwick Landing State Park in Hardin County, Tennessee, sits at Pickwick Dam on the Pickwick Lake impoundment of the Tennessee River. Its name preserves Pickwick Landing, a nineteenth-century riverboat stop that once identified this part of the river. The modern park emerged in 1969 when Tennessee purchased Pickwick Village from the Tennessee Valley Authority, creating a state park within a landscape already shaped by the dam, lake, and long history of river traffic. Today it centers on lakeside recreation and overnight lodging, with an inn, cabins, campgrounds, picnic areas, a marina, a golf course, and a restaurant.
