Hoover's Valley Cemetery was established in 1850 by the Rev. Isaac Hoover of the local Methodist Protestant church. He came from Tennessee and soon initiated services in a nearby oak grove. The oldest stone dates from about 1850. Another grave is of the Whitlock family, killed by Indians. Marked graves total 157 and unmarked graves 88, and the tract is still in use.
