Lake Oroville State Recreation Area, established in 1967, is a California state park surrounding Lake Oroville on the Feather River near Oroville. Covering 29,447 acres, it includes the main reservoir as well as lands and waters around the Diversion Pool and Thermalito Forebay below Oroville Dam. The park is a major recreation area for camping, hiking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, swimming, and waterskiing, with distinctive overnight options such as boat-in, floating, and horse campsites. A visitor center and observation tower overlook the lake and dam, while low water can reveal submerged railroad tunnels, including one in Berry Creek Cove.
