The Beardsley meteorite, a chondritic meteorite, fell near Beardsley, Kansas, on October 15, 1929. Only three preserved samples are known: one collected the next day and kept at Michigan State University, and two found two years later that went to the Smithsonian Institution and Arizona State University. Later study showed it was unusual for a chondrite. Analyses reported exceptionally high potassium in the Michigan State specimen, along with unusually high rubidium and elevated caesium. The Smithsonian specimen contained radium-226 and decay products, which suggested contamination. Its age has been estimated at about 4.64 billion years.
