The geographic center of Delaware was determined to be approximately eleven miles south of Dover, in a field on the Killen Farm. The location came to be identified in 1989 after a curious seventh grader from the Caesar Rodney School District asked where the center of the state was located, and the answer was worked out with the help of his teacher and the Kent County Department of Planning as the point where a flat outline map of Delaware would be exactly balanced.
