G. Walter Diehl, born in 1903 and died in 1954, was an outstanding athlete from Mount Carmel High School, where he played varsity football in 1922, later attending Penn and Bucknell and earning All American Mention and All Pro recognition. Leonard C. Eshmont, born in 1918 and died in 1957, was an outstanding athlete from Mount Carmel Township High School, where he played varsity football in 1937, later attending Fordham, earning All American Mention, and becoming an outstanding professional coach.
