The Pearl Harbor attack intensified existing hostility toward Japanese Americans. As wartime hysteria mounted, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, forcing more than 120,000 West Coast people of Japanese ancestry, or Nikkei, to leave their homes, jobs, and lives behind and sending them into one of ten prison camps across the nation because of their ethnicity. Minidoka was one part of that story.
