Elk Mountain Ski Area in Union Dale, Pennsylvania, sits on Elk Hill in the Endless Mountains and is known for the highest lift-serviced skiing in eastern Pennsylvania, with its North Chair reaching 2,667 feet. Opened in 1959 with a small lodge, a T-bar, rope tows, and a few trails, it expanded steadily through new lifts, snowmaking, a larger base lodge, night skiing, and added terrain. Today it offers 180 acres of skiable ground, a 925-foot vertical drop, 27 trails from beginner to expert, terrain parks, and full snowmaking coverage. Its elevation, vertical, and classic trail network have made it a respected regional ski destination.
