Escalante Butte is a 6,536-foot butte near the far eastern South Rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona, beside Cardenas Butte above the western drainage of Tanner Canyon. Both stand on the same Supai Group ridgeline, with Escalante Butte rising higher and more prominently. Its summit preserves a small, heavily eroded remnant of Coconino Sandstone over debris from the Hermit Shale, while nearby ridges have worn down from the Supai Group. Part of the rugged terrain associated with the Escalante Route and Tanner Trail, it is significant as a distinct erosional remnant that helps define the complex landscape along this section of the canyon.
