Silver Glen Springs, a first-magnitude spring near Ocala National Forest and Lake George, is known for its exceptional clarity, large daily flow, and diverse aquatic life. Water from two vents fills a broad pool and remains a constant 72 degrees, supporting both freshwater and saltwater fish, with manatees sometimes appearing in the protected Natural Well. The site also has notable geological and human history, including an extensive cave system, evidence of Native American life dating back about 5,000 years, and an old mound east of the springhead. Once a private campground, it is now a heavily visited recreation area offering swimming, snorkeling, paddling, and trails.
