Pines Brook Ridge is a wooded mountain ridge in New York’s Southern Tier on the western edge of the Catskills near Walton. Rising to about 2,100 feet, it extends from the West Branch Delaware River for roughly 5.6 miles to the head of Pines Brook Valley. Its landscape is defined by gradual rolling elevation, with a steep, heavily wooded eastern slope and a gentler western descent into a rural valley of fields, homes, wood lots, and scattered buildings. The ridge is heavily forested with northern hardwoods and diverse understory plants, and it remains a quiet, largely undeveloped part of the region’s network of narrow ridges and valleys.
