Choctaw County High School
Education
1
First established as the Ackerman Colored School in the late 1920s, this school was part of the county board of education's plan to consolidate nearly thirty smaller community-based schools from 1931 to 1958. The school's name was changed to the Choctaw County Training School in 1948 and then to Choctaw County High School in 1958. This building, completed in 1958, housed grades seven through twelve. As a result of desegregation, the building was converted into an elementary school in 1977.
