The Natchez Trace at Mathiston lies in Webster County, which was named for the statesman Daniel Webster. A tribute to the road recalls brave travelers crossing shallow brooks and roaring streams, toiling and dying, and leaving to later generations the fulfillment of a dream. The Mississippi Society Daughters of the American Revolution erected it in January 1933.
